At 0700 hrs this morning the embargo was lifted allowing the announcement to be made that Capita have been declared the preferred bidder for the operation of the reorganised scheme for the registration of gas installers. Having confirmed by legal opinion that the bidding process complied with all of the statutary obligations the HSE posted the announcement on their site this morning. The news attracted mixed reactions, but in that the industry will have a positive input into how the new organisation will be structured, it must represent a significant change in how the registrar interacts with installers. Offers have been made by both the ILG and ARGI to provide technical assistance to both the registrar and the HSE should they require it and both organisations have been very positive in their response.
Today marks the start of a new era but for everything to be a success we must all work together to address those issues that we have complained about for so long. Now we have a chance to take control of our industry and we must not let it slip away.
Kind Regards,
Tony Brunton.
